220kV transmission line work concludes in Maidan Wardak province
The work on 220kV transmission line connecting the northern provinces with the southern parts of the country for the transmission of electricity from Turkmenistan completed in central Maidan Wardak province of Afghanistan.

AVA- According to the local security officials, the work concluded over a period of eight months under strict security measures.

The provincial police commandment in a statement said the work on the transmission line was halted due to certain issues in the area nearly thirty six months ago.

The statement further added that the work resumed based on a decree by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and close coordination between the provincial security, Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat, and local residents.
The completion of the transmission line in Maidan Wardak province has been completed amid persistent tense situation in the province with the rampant Taliban-led insurgency.

The provincial police commandment said the anti-government armed militants did their best to sabotage the work of the project but the security forces remained firm to ensure security so that the project completes on time.

According to the officials, it is expected that the transmission line will further connect with the other provinces and will eventually pave the way for the export of electricity from Turkmenistan to Pakistan besides providing electricity to the Afghan provinces.
