Afghan Voice Agency(AVA) , 14 Sep 2017 - 12:31

A female Finnish aid worker who was kidnapped from capital Kabul months ago has been released by her captors, the Finnish government officials said Thursday.

AVA- The foreign ministry of Finland confirmed the release of the woman but no further details were given regarding the circumstances surrounding her release.

The officials are saying that the woman was kidnapped from the city in the month of May.

According to the officials, a German colleague and a guard of the woman were also killed during the incident that led to her kidnapping.

No individual or group has so far claimed responsibility behind the hostage taking of the woman so far.

This comes as incidents mainly involving kidnappings and armed attacks against the aid workers are on the rise in the key provinces and cities of the country.

A Spanish female aid worker serving with the International Committee of the Red Cross was also shot dead by armed men in northern Balkh province of Afghanistan.

The incident took place in the provincial capital Mazar-e-Sharif city after armed individuals opened fire on her in the vicinity of the ICRC hospital earlier this week.
