AVA- A man has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife, mother-in-law and injuring father-in-law and brother-in-law in Samangan province, Police said.

The Samangan Police Chief, Khawani Taheri said the man named Muhammad killed his mother-in-law four months ago in Gul Qeshlaq village of Eybak city and was under tracking by Police.

Taheri noted the man last night stormed to his father-in-law house, axes his wife to death and injured his brother-in-law and father-in-law.

Observers note that murders of this kind were often the result of men resorting to murder on the merest suspicions about female relatives, without even trying to establish whether their fears had any basis.

The Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) says it is concerned about the rates of family violence being reported.
