Afghan War Still in a Stalemate, Says Gen.Nicholson

AVA- Gen. John Nicholson, the commander of U.S. forces in Afghanistan has recently told NBC news saying that “We are still in stalemate” but the new policy has reversed a decline in the U.S. position.
 
“We are only 90 days into this new policy, but with the U.S. forces that will be arriving, with the new authority that we have been given, put the pressure on external enablers, with the fact that we are condition based and not time based, we’ve set all the conditions to win”, the U.S. Commander further stated.
 
He also specifically called out Russia and Pakistan for enabling the Taliban expressing that he has the confidence of the U.S. President.
 
“The Russian themselves have legitimized the Taliban. We see indications that the Taliban themselves and the open media talk about Russians giving them fuel, and raise money for their operations”, said Mr. Nicholson about Russia’s relationship with the Taliban.
 
These remarks by the top U.S. Official comes after Donald Trump praised the U.S. forces recent operations in Afghanistan based on his new strategy and told them via a video conference that “everybody is talking about the progress” they have made in the last few months.
 
Mr. Nicholson had talked of the “stalemate” nearly 9 months ago with the American Lawmakers and urged for additional U.S. Forces deployment in Afghanistan.
 
The U.S. military mission in Afghanistan was changed to a condition-based presence than that of timely presence under Obama Administration.
