Kabul University Professor under Custody over Female Student Self-Murder

AVA- The Kabul University Chancellor, Hamidullah Farooqi, said today, November 26, in a conference that the main motive behind the suicide is yet to be specified and the efforts are underway for further investigations.

According to the Chancellor, the girls’ Dorm Manager and Zahra’s professor responsible for guiding her Monograph, are under prosecution by the justice and judicial agencies.

Mr. Farooqi praising the students’ protest over the self-murder of Zahra and professors’ stubbornness expressed concerns for what he referred as the politicization of protests.

Kabul University has witnessed many students’ protests in recent years during which students have significantly criticized and complained the current curriculum of Afghan universities and very old professors dominating the institutions.

A large number of sociology students had protested few years ago and went into hunger strike for more than 10 days due to applying ethnic discriminations in the faculty.
