Afghan Voice Agency(AVA) , 26 Nov 2017 - 18:25

The third ship carrying complimentary wheat from India to Afghanistan docked at Chabahar port in Iran on Saturday, a media report said Sunday.

AVA- Behrouz Aqaee, Director General of Ports and Maritime Organization in Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan Province, was quoted as saying by IRNA news agency that the ship carried 640 containers holding 15,000 tons of wheat.
The wheat will be unloaded and trucked to Milak in southwestern Afghanistan from the port, the nearest and the most economical port connecting landlocked Afghanistan to open seas, said Aqaee.
Aqaee also said 110,000 tons of India-produced wheat will be donated to Afghanistan through Chabahar Port.
The wheat will be carried to Afghanistan by 5,000 trucks, which will create jobs in Sistan va Baluchestan Province of Iran and Milak in Afghanistan.
Out of the $11.5bn Afghanistan’s imports, about $2.5bn comes from Iran, said Afghanistan’s commercial attaché in Tehran.

“Importing from Iran is more beneficial to us,” said Jaber Ansar, in an export expansion workshop in Southern Khorasan, eastern Iran, late on Saturday.

He added Afghanistan’s import was mainly from Uzbekistan, China, and Pakistan.

'The quality of Iranian products is better than the Chinese and Pakistani ones; we want to increase our import from Iran up to $5bn.” He also hoped that Afghanistan’s export to Iran would increase.
“Afghanistan is ready to provide South Khorasan Province of Iran with any information and facilities it needs for extraterritorial cultivation in Afghanistan”, he said.
