Former ANCOP commander Paikan sentenced to over eight years in prison
Zamarai Paikan, a former commander of Afghan National Civil Order Police, has been sentenced to imprisonment of eight years and a half.

AVA- Paikanwas suspended over a year ago over allegations of his complicity in the act of murder of son of a former police officer in Kabul. Suhrab was killed while his two guards were wounded by men in ANCOP uniform in Sherpur area of the city in August last year.

The court issued its verdict in the absence of Paikan. The former police official was given the penalty for his misuse of authority.

He still has right to appeal the decision.

Nine members of ANCOP involved in the case were sentenced to imprisonments of one to seven years.
