Noor Rejects His Resignation As Balkh Governor
Atta Mohammad Noor says under his leadership, Balkh province has made big progress and that he should not be compared with others.

AVA- Addressing a gathering of his supporters in Balkh province on Monday evening, Atta Mohammad Noor said he rejects his resignation as governor of the province. He called on his supporters to take civic moves against the decision and act based on the law.

“Your movements for now must be civic and under the law. If the aggression and threat increase against us, then we can use any other options,” Noor said.

He added: “I want to announce from here that my dismissal and apparently my resignation is completely rejected, it is not acceptable and we are rejecting it and we will take the further decisions, about this, after consultation with Jamiat-e-Islami and the National Coalition for the Salvation of Afghanistan.”

Meanwhile, he called on the international community not to interfere in Afghanistan’s affairs.

“We call on our international friends not to interfere in Afghanistan’s internal and administrative affairs,” he said.

He went on to say that the Presidential Palace does not have the right to decide on his dismissal.

“Do not compare me with others. Without a deal and agreement, legally and politically, they (the Presidential Palace) do not have the right to dismiss me (from my office),” he added.

He said they have held talks with First Vice President Abdul Rashid Dostum and Second Deputy Chief Executive Mohammad Mohaqiq and that they will have a clear stance from the Coalition for the Salvation of Afghanistan in this respect.

The remarks come after Presidential Palace in a statement on Monday said President Ashraf Ghani has approved the resignation of Balkh governor Atta Mohammad Noor.

The statement said President Ghani has appointed Engineer Mohammad Dawood as Noor’s successor.
