Couple arrested in Kabul over illicit sexual relations and murder

AVA- Officials in the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Interior said a man and a married woman have been arrested in connection to the murder of another man.

The officials further added that the incident took place last week in the vicinity of the 7th police district of the city.

According to the CID officials, the couple were busy in illicit sexual activities when the husband of the woman retuned to his home and caught the couple red handed.

A clash broke out between the husband of the woman and the intruder which resulted into his killing, the officials said.

The CID officials are saying that the culprit, the murderer, managed to flee the area but was arrested during the police operation along with the wife of the victim.

This comes as there has been a sharp rise in criminal-related incidents in Kabul city and other key cities of the country during the recent years.

Earlier, a woman was arrested by police in Kabul on charges of kidnapping a 5-year-old child and was demanding a hefty amount of money against the release of the hostage.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officials said late in December that the woman was arrested during an operation from teh 13th police district of the city.

The officials further added that the child who was kidnapped from the vicinity of the 6th police district of the city was also recovered from the custody of the woman.

According to the CID officials, the woman was demanding a ransom of 500,000 Afghanis against the release of the child.

The security forces launched operations in Kabul, Nangarhar, Laghman, and Balkh province as the gang had a wide network and as a result 12 of their members were arrested and the hostage was safely rescued, the officials added.
