6 police killed, 8 wounded in Taliban attack on checkpoint
Six security forces have been killed and eight others wounded in a Taliban attack in the Nawa district of southern Helmand province, a locla source said on Saturday.

AVA- A well-placed source of the district, told Pajhwok Afghan News the militants stormed security check-post in the Surkh Doz area late on Friday night. Six policemen were killed and eight others injured.

District police chief Amanullah verified the assault and said five security personnel had been killed and four others wounded. The militants also suffered casualties in the firefight, he added.

Taliban confirmed the incident. Qari Yousaf Ahmadi, the group’s spokesman, claimed 15 forces had been killed in the overnight attack.

The rebels also had overrun three check-posts and captured several weapons, ammunitions belonging security forces, Ahmadi said
