8 militants killed, 5 wounded in Faryab clashes
At least eight militants were killed during the clashes in northern Faryab province of Afghanistan, the 209th Shaheen Corps said Wednesday.
AVA- The clashes broke out between the Afghan forces and the militants in the vicinity of Qaisar district.

According to Shaheen Corps, at least five militants were also wounded and nine others were wounded during the clashes.

The incident took place after a large number of militants launched coordinated attacks on security posts in Chachakto village, the Shaheen Corps added.

The Afghan security personnel have not suffered any casualties during the clashes, the Shaheen Corps said, adding that the militants were forced to retreat after the Afghan forces responded to their fire.

The anti-government armed militant groups including the Taliban and other insurgents have not commented regarding the report so far.

Faryab is among the relatively volatile provinces in northern parts of the country where the anti-government armed militant groups are actively operating in a number of its districts and often carry out insurgency activities.

This comes as counter-terrorism operations are underway in various restive provinces in the north including Kunduz, Badakhshan, and Takhar.
