Drone strikes target Taliban’s largest heroin lab in Farah province

One of the largest heroin labs of the Taliban group was eliminated in drone strikes conducted by the US forces in western Farah province of Afghanistan.


AVA- The provincial police commandment said the airstrikes were carried out in the vicinity of Bakwa district and as a result at least eight militants were also killed.
According to the police officials, the heroin lab was located in Ashkan village and around one thousand kgs of drugs were also destroyed during the raid.
The anti-government armed militant groups including the Taliban insurgents have not commented regarding the report so far.
Farah is among the relatively volatile provinces in the West of Afghanistan where the anti-government armed militant groups are actively operating in some of its districts and often carry out insurgency activities.
Reports regarding the elimination of the largest heroin lab in Farah province emerge amid ongoing offensive against the Taliban drug labs and production facilities.
The US forces based in Afghanistan had earlier said that the campaign to eliminate the income sources of the insurgent groups will continue.
So far the Afghan and US forces have carried out airstrikes on Taliban drug and heroin facilities in Helmand and other parts of the country including Badakhshan.
