Contract signed for $47.3 million Kandahar solar power plant
A contract was signed for the Kandahar solar power plant in the presence of President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and local officials and tribal elders of the province in ARG Presidential Palace.
AVA- The Kandahar Power Project is estimated to cost around $47.3 million and will be completed over a period of 12 months.

The power plant will produce 30 megawatt of electricity with the Afghan authorities saying the State Power Utility Firm (Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat) will use the plant for a period of 20 for the purchase and supply of electricity.

According to a statement by the Presidential Palace, the contract was signed at the end of the Urban Development High Council meeting chaired by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani.

The head of the Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat Amanullah Ghalib signed the contract with the representatives of the Solaristan and 77 construction firms.

The statement by the ARG Palace further adds that the Afghan government will contribute round $14 million to the construction cost of the plant.

The construction work of the plant will take around 12 months and will produce 30 megawatts of electricity, the ARG Palace added.
