Afghan forces rescue 30 people from the militants cell in Laghman
The Afghan National Defense and Security Forces have rescued at least 30 people from a detention cell belonging to the anti-government armed militant groups in eastern Laghman province of Afghanistan.
AVA- According to the local officials, the Afghan forces discovered the detention cell in the vicinity of Alingar district on Sunday.
Provincial governor’s spokesman Sarhadi Zwak confirmed that the cell was discovered in Sangar Dara area during the counter-terrorism clearance operations.
Zwak further added that the operations were launched on Friday and are still being conducted against the militant groups in Alingar district.
He confirmed that 30 people were kept inside a detention cell and were rescued by the Afghan security forces during the operation.
According to Zwak, at least three militants were also killed and two others were wounded during the clashes with the security forces.
Zwak also added that a number of the insurgents were also arrested during the operation.
The anti-government armed militant groups including the Taliban insurgents have not commented regarding the report so far and it is yet not clear on what charges the individuals were arrested.
Laghman has been among the relatively calm provinces in the East but the anti-government armed militant groups including the Taliban and ISIS loyalists have been attempting to expand their insurgency in some remote parts of the province.
