Afghan forces thwart coordinated car bombing plot in Khost
The Afghan national defense and security forces in the Southeast have foiled a plot by the anti-government armed militant groups to carry out coordinated car bombings in Khost province.
AVA- The 203rd Thunder Corps of the Afghan Military in the Southeast said two vehicles packed with explosives were seized before the militants manage to use them for the attacks.
According to an official statement by Thunder Corps, at least six militants were also arrested in connection to the attack plot.
The statement further added that the Vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Devices were confiscated from Zor Kot area of Mosa Khel district where the six militants were also arrested.
The militants had prepared a hatchback type vehicle along with a Four by Four car for the attack, the Thunder Corps said, adding that two assault rifles were also confiscated along with a pistol from the detained individuals.
The Thunder Corps says further details regarding the attack plot will be disclosed later.
The anti-government armed militant groups including Taliban insurgents have not commented regarding the report so far.
This comes as the anti-government armed militant groups have been attempting to carry out large scale attacks in key provinces of the country despite ongoing efforts to end the violence through negotiations for reconciliation.
A suicide car bomb attack rocked the southern Helmand province earlier today leaving a number of the Afghan border police forces dead.
