At least 17 people were killed while 24 more wounded after a bus collided with a car in Afghanistan's southern Kandahar province on Wednesday afternoon, an official said.

The incident happened in Tormanda area of Maiwand district.
Qudratullah Khushbakht, a spokesman for provincial governor, said that the passenger bus was on its way to Herat province.
The bus belongs to Mirwais Neka company.
Collisions on highways are common in Afghanistan, with officials often blaming recklessness among drivers.
