More than 50 armed militants of Islamic State or Daesh and Taliban have been killed and 17 others wounded in two separate incidents in the northern Jawzjan province, said local authorities.
The authorities further noted that 10 Daesh terrorists including two foreign families have been arrested by Afghan forces in the province.
“Over 40 Daesh terrorists were killed as the result of airstrikes carried out by Afghan air forces and foreign forces in Qoshtepa and Darzab districts”, Mohammad Reza Ghafori, spokesman of Jawzjan governor told Ariana News.
He added that three bases of the militants were also destroyed in the airstrikes and the situation has been restored in the area.
12 armed militants were killed and 17 others wounded after a group of Daesh terrorists were ambushed in a border point between Faryab and Jawzjan provinces.
Meanwhile, Afghan 209 Military Corps also informed through a separate statement that 35 Daesh militants including seven Uzbek citizens were killed and 13 others wounded in airstrikes conducted over Friday’s night in Jawzan province.
The statement also added that one terrorist was arrested the same night by Afghan forces.
