AVA- Police spokesman Abdul Karim Yourish told Pajhwok Afghan News that Farooq, heading an uprising group, was killed in a bomb late Monday night.
Militants stormed a security check-post in the Sherinak area of Almar district. Farooq was killed as a roadside bomb ripped through his vehicle. He was on the way to the post to support security personnel.
Three uprising group members also suffered casualties. According to local sources, Farooq was the most trusted lieutenant of Atta Mohammad Noor, former governor of Balkh province.
