Karzai meets US Ambassador to Kabul
The former Afghan President Hamid Karzai met with the US Ambassador to Kabul John Bass to discuss the recent developments in Afghanistan.
The Office of the Former President in a statement said the former President met with the Ambassador Bass in his office on Tuesday evening.
The statement further added that the two sides discussed the situation in Afghanistan as well as the region but no further details have been given in this regard.
The meeting between Karzai and Ambassador Bass takes place amid deteriorating security situation in Afghanistan.
As the US forces are busy conducting counter-terrorism operations with the Afghan forces as part of the new US strategy, the former President has always expressed opposition with the US forces operations in the country, specifically the US airstrikes.
Karzai has long been emphasizing that the fight against terrorism should not be fought in the Afghan villages and houses but rather the main root of terrorism should be eliminated which are based outside the borders of Afghanistan.
This comes as the Afghan and US officials also agree that the ongoing war and violence has links with the terror safe havens outside the country and the support of the regional countries to the militant and terrorist groups in Afghanistan.
