India, Russia agree to work together in Afghanistan
India and Russia have agreed to undertake a joint project, possibly in the development sector, in Afghanistan, an Indian newspaper reported.
It happened during a conversation between leaders of the two countries in Russia’s Soci earlier this week, the Indian Express reported.
The idea was proposed by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and was readily accepted by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Earlier, India and China agreed to work jointly on an economic project in Afghanistan during Modi’s informal summit with Chinese leader.
As Russia is getting closer to Pakistan that is accused of supporting terrorist groups, the Indian side forcefully argued that the international community needs to differentiate between victims of terrorism of their own making, and others.
“There are victims and there are victims. Some are victims of their own making, their people are being killed by terrorists and terror groups created by them, while we are victims of terrorism, which have been perpetrated by groups created by them,” a source was quoted as saying. “We conveyed that there is a difference.”
