Militants suffer casualties in Ghor airstrikes
The anti-government armed militants have suffered heavy casualties during the airstrikes conducted n northwestern Ghor province of Afghanistan, the Afghan Military said Saturday.
The First Brigade of the 207th Zafar Corps of the Afghan Military in the West said the airstrikes were carried out in support of the ground operations in Charsada district.
A statement released by the First Brigade of Zafar Corps states that the airstrikes left at least 20 militants dead while at least 13 others sustained injuries.
The statement further adds that two commanders of the anti-government armed militants identified as Mawlavi Abdul Hadi and Mawlavi Nasim were among those killed.
According to the First Brigade of Zafar Corps, the operations in Charsada are jointly being conducted by the Afghan army, police, and personnel of the other security institutions.
The anti-government armed militant groups including the Taliban militants have not commented regarding the report so far.
Ghor has been among the relatively calm provinces in Northwest of Afghanistan however the anti-government armed militants have been attempting to expand their insurgency in this province during the recent years.
