AVA - Sixth Polio Case Reported in Nangarhar

Since the start of 2023, a new polio case has been reported in Nangarhar, marking the sixth such incident in Afghanistan.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)_Monitoring, The recent case was recorded in the Khogyani district of Nangarhar, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Public Health.

All the six polio cases this year have been reported in the same province. In response to the escalating situation, the Ministry of Public Health initiated a nationwide polio vaccination program two days ago.

It’s worth noting that Afghanistan and Pakistan are the only two countries in the world where the polio virus continues to pose a threat to children’s lives.
