Offered at the Presidential Palace in Kabul by Karzai
President Hamid Karzai offered Eidul Fitr prayers at the Presidential Palace in Kabul, on Sunday where the government high profile figures had participated. 

From among the list of those taking part in the holiday praying such names as VP, Khalili and Fahim, the chief of high council for peace and some Ulama could be cited. 

Congratulating Afghanistan nation on Eidul Fitr, Karzai prayed for a prosperious, rich and peacful Affghanistan. 

Karzai condemned the repeated insurgent attacks that took place during the holy month of Ramadan in various provinces.

In a speech marking the holiday, Karzai said the enemies of Muslims treated the Afghan nation cruelly with bombs, explosions and suicide attacks even in mosques.

He asked the Taliban if they were not responsible for the attacks, they need to disown them. 

“If you are not behind this, it is being done in your name. As Muslims, as Afghans, raise your voice and say that you did not do it,” he appealed.

Eidul Fitr, which marks the end of the month-long fasting, was celebrated across the country, with faithful offering Eid prayers in Eidgahs and mosques in all major cities.

Nearly70 people have been killed and more than 200 injured in insurgent attacks during the month, with most of the casualties talking place in southwestern Nimroz and northern Kunduz provinces.

Karzai said the people of Afghanistan would never forget the atrocities against them by the enemies of the country. He asked the Taliban to apologise to the nation, if they had a role in the attacks.

This time, the president did not call the Taliban “brothers” as he did previously on such occasions.

The Taliban have not asserted responsibility for the suicide attacks that took place during the month.
