Pak-Turkey-Afghan sides discuss regional situation
Pakistan, Turkey and Afghanistan Tuesday discussed the current situation in the region with a focus on recent economic and political developments, says a statement issued by the Foreign Office.

The three sides discussed the possibilities of enhanced collaboration in the areas of economy, trade, energy and infrastructure. Strong emphasis was laid on reconstruction and economic development in the heart of Asia. The three sides also discussed possible joint efforts in the framework of international organizations.

The statement said that the Turkey-Afghanistan-Pakistan Trilateral Political Consultations at the technical-level were held in Islamabad, in pursuance of the decision taken at the 8th Trilateral Summit held in Ankara on February 13. Director Generals from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the three countries led their respective sides in the inaugural session of the trilateral consultations.

Ambassador Sakir Ozkan Torunlar, Director General for South Asia, led the Turkish side, Ambassador Abdul Samad Samad, Director General, First Political Division, represented Afghan side while Director General (Afghanistan) Mohammad Iftikhar Anjum the led Pakistan side.

Later, the delegates from Turkey and Afghanistan also called on Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhary. The Nation
