Competition Begins to Select Members of Teens
A competition has launched to identify 30 youths to participate in a national football team for 16-year-olds in Kabul, officials said.

These competitions are held with the presence of 64 teams in Ghazni stadium of Kabul, where teams play knockout games against each other, lasting for close to two months.

"I hope that our team will win and I can wear the national 16 year olds football team shirt," said Muhammad Ilyas Amiri, one of the competitors.

The Youth Football Committee of the Afghanistan Football Federation said that 18 of these players will take part at the Caspian Cup in Azerbaijan in May.

"This is unbelievable for us that ۶۴ teams have participated for selection of the national 16 year old football team. If we even select one player from each team, we will have 64 players, which will really help in development and support of our national football team," the head of Youth Committee, Kazemi, said.

Tahir Raufi, Technical Manager of Afghanistan Football Federation, called such competitions effective in development and improvement of Afghanistan football.

Mr. Raufi added that, Afghanistan football had significant improvement and youth interest towards football is increasing day by day.

Youth Football Committee at the Afghanistan Football Federation said that, competitions for selection of national 18 year old football team will start next.
