Afghan Voice Agency(AVA),The kings of animals were among six found in a vehicle a week ago in southern Kandahar province, which was bound to neighbouring Pakistan, Afghanistan’s interior ministry said.

They were placed skilfully in a truck, which was discovered by border police in Nawe Kalay area of Spin Boldak district.

Nematullah Haidari, Afghanistan’s border police chief, said that four of the lions were taken to Kabul and were officially handed over to officials at the city’s zoo.

He said that the remaining two would also join them in the near future.

No one has been arrested in connection with the smuggling of the lions, which, officials said, were stolen outside Afghanistan.

Built in1967, Kabul Zoo was considered to be one of the most lavish zoos in Asia, with ۷۰۰ animals and 92 species, birds, reptiles and fish, before prolonged conflict which greatly damaged the facility.
