16 casualties in fresh clash between Taliban, police in Ghazni
Taliban and Afghan police clashed in central-eastern province of Ghazni overnight, as a result of which 16 were killed or injured, according to officials Monday.

AVA- The clash happened after the insurgents attacked a police checkpoint in Tape Surkh area of Khogyani district.

Mohammad Arif Noori, the provincial governor, said that eight insurgents were killed or injured in the clash.

He said that the clash also left four police dead and four others injured.

The official rejected reports that the district fell to militants.

The violence comes two days after nine police and 12 militants were killed in separate clashes in Ghazni.
