Traffic incident leaves 9 people dead in Herat province
At least nine people died following a traffic incident in western Herat province on Sunday.

The incident took place after a vehicle collided with a truck while it was on its way from Islam Qala port to Herat city.

An official in provincial hospital, Rafiq Shirzai confirmed all nine people in the vehicle were killed following the incident.

The local government officials in Herat province have not commented regarding the incident so far.

This comes as at least 22 people were killed or injured following a traffic incident in western Herat province of Afghanistan earlier this month.

The incident in Shindand district had left at least five people dead and 17 others injured after a passenger bus collided with a van.

Today’s incident was one of the deadliest on Herat-Islam Qala highway during the recent years.

Local officials blame drivers for reckless driving on main highways of Afghanistan which leads to deadly traffic accidents.
