Afghan Air Force conducts 1,900 strikes in nine months
Afghan Air Force has carried out 1,900 strikes targeting insurgents over the last nine months, officials said Sunday.

AVA- Additionally, it flew 900 sorties in support of ground forces.

Mohammad Shoaib, the commander of Afghan Air Force, said that supporting ground forces, taking commandos to frontlines, aerial detection and supporting military convoys are among fundamental duties of Afghan Air Force.

He added that the Afghan Air Force will get strengthened in terms of personnel, equipment and technique over the next four years.

Afghan Air Force is seen as key to fighting militants, who were emboldened after withdrawal of most of international troops from the country in 2014.

The United States has started delivering more than 150 Black Hawk helicopters amid other aircraft for Afghan Air Force.

“If Taliban and Daesh don’t lay down their arms in next fighting season, they will be targeted wherever they hide,” Shoaib said.
