Jamiat Party Demands Dismissal Of All Security Chiefs
Leader of Jamiat-e-Islami Salahuddin Rabbani listed the parties demands and called for immediate action in wake of recent attacks.

AVA_ Acting foreign affairs minister Salahuddin Rabbani, who is also the leader of Jamiat-e-Islami party, said on Monday his party was calling for the immediate dismissal of all security institution heads following the recent attacks in Kabul.

Addressing a press conference on Monday, Rabbani said all heads of security branches including the National Security Advisor Haneef Atmar must be sacked along with General Taj Mohammad Jahid Minister of Interior Affairs, National Directorate of Security Chief Masoom Stanekzai and the acting defense minister Tariq Shah Bahrami.

Rabbani said they have three demands. Firstly, the firing of security heads, secondly a full investigation must be held into the recent attacks in Kabul and those involved must be prosecuted and thirdly Jamiat wants the National Unity Government agreement to be fully implemented.

The party’s leader said recent attacks have raised questions about the security institutions and their abilities. He also said there are circles within government and security institutions that have links to the Taliban.

He went on to say that the recent spate of deadly incidents in Kabul showed that security institutions are not able to provide security to the Afghan people.

Rabbani said that in line with this, and the party’s demands, Jamiat will not back down from its stance. He did say however that he hopes party member CEO Abdullah Abdullah will stand by Jamiat and its demands as well as by their calls for the dismissal of security chiefs.

He also said Jamiat are still to decide whether he, Rabbani, will represent Afghanistan as minister of foreign affairs at the Kabul Process meeting scheduled to start on Tuesday.

High-ranking officials and foreign affairs representatives from 28 countries and organizations are expected to attend the key meeting on Tuesday in the capital.
