A successful and rare operation was conducted by doctors in Jalal Abad, eastern Nangarhar, to remove the second skull of a baby girl.

The operation was conducted in Chaparhar district of Nangarhar province last week, and the baby named Asree Gul was discharged from hospital on Wednesday.

Doctors who carried out the complicated operation said vital nerves and blood vessels were linked the second head of the baby girl, however, the operation was successfully conducted.

The doctors further added that the unusual condition of Asree Gul could have been due to failure of the third baby development in the womb, as she already has healthy twin sister.

He said, “We don’t have very developed equipment. but we are very happy to have conducted the operation successfully”.

The baby was taken to hospital by her parents after Asree Gul’s second skull made it dificult for her to sleep, and the operation was carried out free of charge, Dr. Mojadid said.
