The severe winter conditions and heavy snowfall in eastern Afghanistan has left seven people dead, officials confirm.

He said dozens of houses have been demolished due to the incessant snowing, forcing many residents to seek shelter in tents. In addition, road access to a number of villages have been blocked.

"The freezing temperatures have affected the animals too, and around 900 livestock has died," Zvak added.
