Flash floods kill at least 17 in Badakhshan province
According to local authorities in north-eastern Badakhshan province, several people were killed and houses were damaged following flash floods in this province.

Provincial governor spokesman Abdul Maroof Rasukh said at least 17 people were killed and more than 10 others were injured following the floods.

Abdul Maroof Rasukh further added at least 100 houses were also damaged during the flash floods which hit several parts of this province during the past 3 days.

He also said the floods have blocked the routes which prevent the rescue and humanitarian assistance teams to reach the affected areas.

This comes as heavy casualties were incurred to local residents due to flash floods in Takhar, Badakhshan, Ghor and Sar-e-Pul provinces of Afghanistan recently.

Provincial governor spokesman Abdul Maroof Rasukh said the affected local residents are facing tough times since they are lacking shelters, food items and etc.
