Hekmatyar shoe-thrower released
Sayed Abdul Wahid Dadshani, a man who threw shoes at Hizb-i-Islami leader Gulbaddin Hekmatyar last Friday, has been released.

AVA- Dadshani landed in the provincial intelligence agency’s detention after he threw a pair of shoes at Hekmatyar while he was delivering Friday sermon in Herat’s main mosque.

Dadshani was released following a protest in the province against his detention. Civil society activists also criticized the man’s detention.

It remains unclear why Dadshani threw shoes at Hekmatyar who was on his first provincial visit after returning to the Afghan capitalfollowing 20 years in hiding.

Dadshani's release was confirmed by Herat Governor Mohammad Asif Rahimi.
