The idea of defending the oppressed has been prominent in the thoughts and ideas of Imam Khomeini (RA) both in practical and theoretical terms. His slogan was that wherever there is an oppressed person, he must be saved, even if it costs our lives. He both chanted this slogan and practically did it. The most important practical and objective example of this is the defense of the oppressed people of Palestine. He stood up in a practical way against the oppression that was going on against the oppressed people of Palestine and declared jihad and considered any kind of transaction and interaction with the oppressors to be forbidden.
Practical examples of defending the oppressed in the thought of Imam Khomeini (RA):
1. Naming Quds Day in order to support the oppressed and oppressed people of Palestine:
Most of the scholars of the Islamic world supported Palestine, but this support was mostly slogans and shows. However, the Imam realized this support in a practical way and considered it obligatory to defend the oppressed people of Palestine. In order for Palestine and Quds not to be forgotten and the crimes of the oppressors to be exposed, he named a day as Quds Day. In reality, this day reminds the pain and suffering of these people and reminds the world of the oppressed and Muslims of the oppressed people of Palestine. In reality, Quds Day is the day of the awakening of the Islamic nation towards the reality of Quds (the first Qibla of Muslims) and our responsibilities towards this holy place.
2. Encouraging and encouraging other Islamic countries (including Afghanistan) to stand up and wage jihad against the oppression and aggression of foreign colonialists: Before the victory of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, most Islamic countries were under colonialism. The revolution of Imam Khomeini (RA) brought awareness and awakening to the Islamic community. After the victory of this revolution, most Islamic countries, following the practical and theoretical ideas of Imam Khomeini, stood up against the oppressors and arrogant powers, and Imam Khomeini's ideas of defending the oppressed led to the liberation of Islamic countries.
