Iran has the capacity to play a constructive role in reducing tensions between India and Pakistan
Following the escalation of tensions between India and Pakistan and the visit of Seyyed Abbas Araqchi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, to Islamabad in order to reduce tensions, international relations experts, in an interview with AVA, assessed Iran's move as effective in reducing tensions between the two countries, adding that given Iran's good relations with India and Pakistan, Tehran can play a constructive and fruitful role in preventing another war in the region.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Quddus Khatibi, an international relations expert, stated in an interview with AVA: "Iran, with its experience in resolving tensions and establishing good diplomatic relations with India and Pakistan, can act effectively if both sides are willing."

Khatibi, pointing out that Iran has always taken benevolent steps at the height of regional crises, added: "Resolving any tension between India and Pakistan depends on the willingness of these countries to reduce differences."

According to this expert, the more critical the situation between the two countries becomes, the less effective mediation will be, and the effectiveness of Iran's actions will depend on the prevailing conditions and circumstances.

Emphasizing that a war between Pakistan and India will affect the region, especially Afghanistan, Khatibi stated: "Iran, considering its good relations with both countries and sufficient experience in resolving tensions, can prevent a full-scale war between these two nuclear countries."

The effects of the India-Pakistan war on Afghanistan
Mr. Khatibi went on to explain the effects of a possible war between Pakistan and India on Afghanistan, stating that such a conflict would have negative political, security, and economic consequences for the country.

From a security perspective, he said: "Afghanistan shares a long border with Pakistan, and in the event of conflict and unrest, there is a possibility that unauthorized groups will exploit the chaotic situation and enter Afghanistan, jeopardizing security."

Khatibi also emphasized from a political perspective that a war between Pakistan and India would be detrimental to Afghanistan, because at a time when the country needs more attention from the international community, any crisis or war in the region could lead to Afghanistan being forgotten.

This international relations expert also stated regarding the economic impacts: "The conflict between Pakistan and India will disrupt Afghanistan's trade relations with Pakistan, and on the other hand, it will severely reduce Afghanistan's imports and exports with India and other South Asian countries."

It is worth noting that Seyyed Abbas Araqchi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, arrived in Islamabad yesterday at the head of a delegation and met and discussed with Pakistani officials, including the country's president, prime minister, and foreign minister, regarding regional developments, especially the increasing tension between India and Pakistan.
