Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: In an interview with AVA, Maulvi Mohammad Mukhtar Mufleh, leader of the Islamic Movement Party, described the ceasefire announced by Yemen's Ansarullah with the United States as a trick and deception by Trump, saying: "On the surface, the ceasefire seems to be unilateral, but deep down, there is a sinister conspiracy underway to destroy Ansarullah." He believes that the Houthis are too vigilant to remain indifferent to the temporary cessation of war by the United States and act without planning for their future. On the other hand, Maulvi Mufleh believes that the Houthis are not actually at war with the United States to declare a ceasefire, but rather they have declared their readiness to defend the people of Palestine and Gaza, who have been violated by the United States and Britain. He clarified: “This means that the ceasefire between the US and the Houthis is not logical, so it would be more logical if we call this Trump action a halt to aggression against the Yemenis.”
He also stated that Ansar Allah will forever remain true to its word in defending the people of Palestine and Gaza, adding: “The US has not backed down from bombing Yemen, but this is a kind of conspiracy by Trump and the American think tank that want to portray the Yemenis, especially Ansar Allah, as some kind of deal-breaker and reduce the popularity of the Houthis among the Arab world, especially Yemen. Moreover, it is possible that by doing this, the US will make a more dangerous decision, to the point of destroying Yemen.”
Saying that Trump has sinister intentions for Islamic countries, Mawlawi Mufleh added: “The Americans, especially Trump recently, have openly humiliated the Arab world and called it stupid, saying: ‘We do not give money and facilities to the Zionist regime, but the Arabs send a lot of money to America, and we spend this money on the costs of the Zionist regime’s war against Palestine and Lebanon.’”
According to him, one of the tricks of colonialist countries throughout history has been to always pretend to be supporters and benefactors, while in reality this is not the case and they want to advance their cause under the guise of friendship. The Yemenis understand this issue well and will stand up to them by citing verses from the Holy Quran in which God has called Jews and Christians the enemies of Muslims.
The leader of the Islamic Revolution Party noted: “America is the great devil according to Imam Khomeini (RA), and this statement was not a coincidence, but rather the knowledge that the Imam had, and he gave it this name, and after that, this trait has been manifested in the leaders of America. Therefore, America cannot be trusted in any way, and Trump’s declaration of a ceasefire should not be taken seriously.”
He also criticized Islamic and Arab countries that are acting worse than the enemy in the current situation and have remained silent about the crimes of the Zionist regime, adding: “If it were not for America’s support and the collusion and assistance of some Arab and Islamic countries, the Zionist regime would be on the brink of collapse today, but unfortunately, neither America nor the Islamic mercenary countries will ever stop supporting the Zionist regime.”
Molavi Mufleh emphasized that the ceasefire announced by Trump with the Houthis is in fact a ploy to pave the way for the destruction of Hamas and Palestine.
He continued to express his concern about the evils of America and the Zionist regime in the region, saying: "In every corner of the Islamic world where there is evil and war, America and the Zionist regime are definitely involved, and the Zionist regime does not hesitate to sabotage or cause division among Muslims for its survival. In fact, America and the Zionist regime are two sides of the same coin, causing disaster wherever they step, and every deal that has been made with them so far has failed."
Ceasefire is an opportunity to strengthen the Houthis’ position and focus on expanding their regional influence
Dr. Abbas Ershad, a university professor and international relations expert, stated in an interview with Ava: “It should be noted that the Houthis, relying on Iran’s support and influence, are seeking to consolidate their power and gain domestic and regional legitimacy. In his opinion, the ceasefire could be an opportunity to strengthen the Houthis’ position and focus on expanding their regional influence.
On the other hand, the United States, as a key player in the region, is currently seeking to reduce its direct military presence and focus on diplomatic and security strategies; this policy could be pursued with the aim of attracting international support or in order to focus on domestic security issues and confronting terrorist threats. On the other hand, changes in US domestic priorities and efforts to reduce foreign military spending may also be an important factor in Washington’s willingness to advance the diplomatic path and agree to a ceasefire.
Ershad emphasizes that this ceasefire can also serve as a basis for stabilizing the situation for other regional actors, such as Iran, in a situation where the region is still facing instability and chaos.
He continued: The ceasefire in Yemen has hidden layers and hidden goals that should not be ignored. Iran's role in this is very important, because the Houthis, as a group supported by the Islamic Republic of Iran, are taking advantage of this ceasefire to consolidate their position in the areas under their control and use this opportunity to renew their forces and rebuild their military equipment, without the risk of defeat or new conflicts threatening them.
From another perspective, the countries involved in this agreement, including the United States, also pursue their own political and military goals. According to Ershad, the ceasefire can be a tool for better control of the areas, reducing military pressures, and advancing regional and international interests for foreign actors. Meanwhile, strategic secrecy and behind-the-scenes actions play an important role in maintaining the balance of power and securing the interests of various actors. Each side is trying to consolidate its influence bases and change the power equations in its favor in the temporary vacuum of the conflict.
The international relations expert noted: The current situation shows that the ceasefire is more of a symbolic and temporary measure than a lasting solution that cannot solve the Yemeni crisis alone or lead to a permanent reduction in the conflicts. He added that the Houthis continue to emphasize Yemen’s support for Palestine and have announced that they will respond in the event of any attack by the Zionist regime on Yemen or Gaza. They have also emphasized the need for Islamic countries to help Palestine and send humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Dr. Ershad also stated that the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Ansar Allah of Yemen has placed the Zionist regime in a dual and complicated situation. According to him, the media and officials of the Zionist regime described the agreement as shocking and reported severe anxiety among the regime's politicians.
Yemen will remain steadfast in defending the people of Gaza
On the other hand, political and regional affairs expert Sediq Mansour Ansari emphasized in an interview with Ava News Agency that regardless of whether the US reaches a ceasefire agreement with the Houthis or not, Yemen will continue to maintain its firm stance in defending the people of Gaza against the Zionist regime.
Ansari added: "The US, with the collusion of the Zionist regime, is trying to quietly withdraw from its long, criminal and fruitless war against the defenseless people of Gaza by diverting world public opinion and shifting its focus to new proxy wars in other regions such as South Asia, Syria or the escalation of the conflicts between Russia and Ukraine."
He stated that "none of America's commitments can be trusted," adding: "In the Middle East, Yemen is the only place that stands firmly and powerfully against the criminals and continues to fight directly against the occupying regime and its supporters, the United States and Britain, with the weapons of faith and will. Yemen has dealt heavy blows to this front without fear."
Ansari also said about the goals behind the ceasefire: "The Trump administration is trying to calm its long-standing crisis with Yemen through trickery and deception and exploit this platform to implement its secret plans and actions."
On Tuesday (May 6), then-US President Donald Trump announced that US airstrikes on Ansar Allah positions in Yemen would cease. This decision was made following an agreement brokered by Oman, according to which Ansar Allah pledged to stop its attacks on American ships in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
