The Iran-Israel War: The Most Critical Geopolitical Developments in the Region
AVA: What is your overall understanding of the war between Iran and Israel, considering that the Zionist regime is the aggressor and Iran is defending itself?
Ahmad Saeedi: “As we all know, the military conflict between Iran and Israel, which began three days ago, has become one of the most critical geopolitical developments in the region.
Given the overt and covert support of world powers for both sides, this war has become not only a bilateral confrontation, but also an international crisis.
By launching Operation “Rising Lion,” Israel has attacked more than 100 important targets in Iran, including the Natanz nuclear facility and research centers in Isfahan. These attacks have resulted in the deaths of a number of senior Iranian military commanders and nuclear scientists. Israel's main goal is to weaken Iran's nuclear program and missile capabilities, although some analysts believe that regime change in Iran is also one of the main goals of Israel and the United States.
In response to these attacks, Iran fired missiles at the cities of Tel Aviv and Haifa, killing more than 50 people and wounding hundreds more.
AVA: While the entire West directly or indirectly supports the Zionist regime, is Iran alone in this war?
Ahmad Saeedi: "In the meantime, Russia and China have announced their diplomatic and military support for Iran. China has condemned the Israeli attacks and considered them a clear violation of international law; while Russia is also using its close relations with Tehran to strengthen the positions of the Islamic Republic."
On the other hand, US President Donald Trump has expressed hope in his recent statements that Iran and Israel will reach an agreement for peace. He said: “Sometimes they have to fight to achieve peace,” and emphasized that the United States is not currently involved in the conflict, but has not ruled out the possibility of intervention if US interests are threatened. However, there are reports that Washington has provided military and financial aid to Israel.”
AVA: With the start of the war by the Israeli regime and the breakdown of diplomatic methods, do you think there is any hope for a ceasefire and for Iran and the United States to return to the negotiating table?
Ahmad Saeedi: “Given the international support for both sides, there is a risk of this conflict spreading to other regions of the Middle East. Despite Trump’s hopeful statements, as long as the reciprocal attacks continue and negotiations are stalled, achieving peace seems difficult in the short term.”
If we want to draw a clear conclusion from this situation, it must be said that the conflict between Iran and Israel has entered a critical and very dangerous stage. While efforts are underway to mediate and reduce tensions, achieving a lasting peace will be challenging, challenging, and even impossible until military actions are stopped and negotiations resume.”
AVA: What negative consequences and outcomes does the continuation of the war between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Zionist regime have on regional countries, including Afghanistan?
Ahmad Saeedi: “Now, if we look at our homeland, Afghanistan, we see that the continuation of this war, as it continues, could directly or indirectly affect Afghanistan.”
The most important possible consequences for Afghanistan include: “Increasing economic pressure, reducing foreign aid, insecurity on the western borders, a new wave of immigration, and ultimately, political polarization within the country. In such circumstances, different groups within Afghanistan may adopt different and even opposing positions.”
In summary, the continuation of the Iran-Israel war could mean intensifying economic, security, and social pressures for Afghanistan and create serious problems in our country.”
It is worth noting that after the Zionist regime’s aggression on nuclear facilities, high-ranking military officials and residential areas of Iran last Friday morning, Iran also began firing combined waves of drone missiles at Israel. Following the continuation of Israeli regime fighter jet attacks on various cities of Iran, officials of the Islamic Republic warned that the Israeli regime would face more severe and crushing responses.
This is while a new and extensive wave of Iranian missile and drone attacks was carried out on military and urban targets in the occupied territories in the early hours of Monday, 16th of June. These attacks have resulted in human casualties, severe infrastructure damage and widespread disruptions in the Zionist regime’s defense system. These attacks continued at midnight and in the early hours of Tuesday.
