Operation “Al-Aqsa Storm” is a turning point in Palestinian history; Media is the most important weapon in the world
As October 7th approaches, the second anniversary of Operation “Al-Aqsa Storm” against the Zionist regime and also the anniversary of the invasion of Afghanistan by the US and NATO forces, political experts say that Operation “Al-Aqsa Storm” was a turning point in Palestinian history. They also stated that the media has become the most important weapon in the world and that the current war is, above all, a war of narratives and a media war; the media plays a pivotal and key role in shaping public opinion.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Hojjat al-Islam Wal-Muslimeen Sayed Saleh Sadr, an expert on religious and political affairs, said in an interview with AVA reporter today (Tuesday, 7th October) that in 2001, the United States of America entered Afghanistan due to its development programs and with the aim of expanding its influence.

Mr. Sadr pointed out that the religious beliefs of the Afghan people caused disharmony between society and American forces, and this issue paved the way for the resistance of the Islamic Emirate forces, which, of course, also enjoyed the support of some foreign countries.

Hojjat al-Islam wal-Muslimeen Sayyed Saleh stated: America was forced to withdraw from Afghanistan, and internal factors such as the resistance and steadfastness of the people and external factors including the support of some regional countries played a role in this process.

Operation “Al-Aqsa Storm” was a turning point in Palestinian history
Sayyed Saleh Sadr says that Operation “Al-Aqsa Storm” was accompanied by the sacrifice of martyrs and widespread displacement and destruction in Gaza, and about 76,000 martyrs have been reported; an incident that is not simple and its dimensions are profound.

He continued: Operation “Al-Aqsa Storm” will not end for the Palestinian people and future generations; Gaza and its fate are a historical turning point that is recorded as a fact and will not be erased from the people’s memory and demands.

Mr. Sadr said: From a strategic and media perspective, some media outlets performed well and, despite the censorship of Israeli casualties, did not fail to do as much as possible and widely reflected the tragedies of Gaza.

Regarding the future of the Palestinian battle, Hojjatoleslam Sadr stated that this battle has two states: If the Palestinians and the resistance forces do not surrender and continue to resist, there is a possibility of victory and the liberation of their land; but if they put aside their weapons, the existence of Palestine may be jeopardized.

Sayyed Saleh Sadr clarified that the Palestinian issue is not final, because future generations will fight for their land again.

The media is known as the most important weapon in the world
Hojjatoleslam Sadr says that the current war is a media war and the media has a pivotal role; but many media outlets have lost their independence and true mission and operate under the influence of politics.

According to Sayed Saleh Sadr: “A small number of media outlets were active in both professional and human dimensions, but overall the mission of the media has been greatly diminished.”

On the other hand, Abdul Ali Hassani, a political affairs expert, stated in an interview with AVA that the United States entered Afghanistan in 2001 with the aim of destroying Al-Qaeda and the Taliban and initially achieved its military goals, but failed to establish the political system it wanted, and the new structure did not last due to widespread corruption, public distrust, and lack of national legitimacy.

Mr. Hassani said that the Afghan military and security forces also lost the necessary motivation to continue the war due to the corruption of the ruling class, and finally, with the flight of Ashraf Ghani and his colleagues, the republican system quickly collapsed.

Referring to the heavy and fruitless costs of the war in Afghanistan, this political expert said that dissatisfaction in Washington increased; The corruption of the Kabul government and ethnic rivalries made the reform process impossible and accelerated the decision to withdraw foreign forces and return the Islamic Emirate.

He continued that the “Al-Aqsa Storm” operation on October 7, 2023, was a turning point from the perspective of the Palestinian resistance; an operation that, with an element of surprise, inflicted a huge psychological and military blow on Israel, but in return came with a human cost and widespread destruction of Gaza and long-term diplomatic consequences for the Palestinians.

According to Mr. Hassani, just as the United States left Afghanistan after two decades of failed war, Israel has also faced challenges in the face of the reality of resistance and global pressure.

Abdul Ali Hassani added that “the future of the Palestinian resistance groups’ struggle is likely to remain long and multifaceted; intense military pressure and humanitarian crisis will continue, conflicts will become regional and fragmented, and it will be difficult to find a short-term political solution.”

Hassani added that US military and financial support for Israel at the current stage is strong and tangible and increases the capacity to continue military operations, but this support is not a guarantee of lasting political victory and may lead to increased political and international costs.

Regarding US threats to retake Bagram, the expert emphasized that Bagram is a historical symbol of the presence in Afghanistan and any military return similar to 2001 is not possible; therefore, limited claims or threats often have a symbolic or political aspect.

The media plays a key role in shaping public opinion and the battle of narratives
In response to the last question of the Ava reporter, Abdul Ali Hassani said that in the current developments in Gaza and the region, the media plays a key role in shaping public opinion and the battle of narratives.

He continued by adding that regional media with documented and humane coverage can neutralize the psychological warfare of the West and increase global empathy with the Palestinian issue.
