From Bagram to Gaza; A shared narrative of oppressed nations against occupation and aggression
October 7th is a reminder of two major and fateful events in the Islamic world; the day when the United States entered Afghanistan in 2001 with the slogan of fighting terror and leaving behind two decades of occupation, destruction and dependence, and the day when in 2023, the Palestinian resistance upset the balance of power against the Zionist regime with Operation Storm al-Aqsa. Experts and university professors emphasize in an interview with AVA that these two events, although they occurred in different geographical locations, show a single face of the reality of the contemporary world: the resistance of oppressed nations against the occupiers and the exposure of the true face of the system of domination.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: As October 7th approaches, analysts and university professors say in an interview with Ava that with the occupation of Afghanistan in 2001 and Operation Storm al-Aqsa in 2023, October 7th has become a symbolic date in the developments in the Islamic world. The Al-Aqsa Storm showed that the Palestinian issue is still a living and decisive issue in the global equation. Previously, many Western governments and media tried to marginalize the Palestinian issue, but with that incident, the public conscience of the world woke up again. From East to West, popular demonstrations and new political positions proved that Palestine is still at the heart of public opinion.
According to these analysts, of course, this global attention came at a heavy cost for the people of Gaza, because Israel responded not with military force, but with the destruction of civilian lives and the destruction of human infrastructure. Therefore, although the Al-Aqsa Storm was the beginning of a disaster, it saved Palestine from oblivion and returned it to the context of global consciousness.

Reflections of the Al-Aqsa Storm and the Change in Security Equations
Dr. Abdul-Ali Adeli, a university professor, said in an interview with Ava: "The Hamas resistance on October 7th was able to disrupt Israel's security equation and show that Israel's absolute deterrence power is a media illusion."
According to him, "Hamas' precise and surprise operation exposed the intelligence weakness and fragility of Israel's security structure. However, the international community's inability to contain Israel's aggression and the high volume of human casualties in Gaza turned this movement from a military victory to a human and moral challenge."
Adeli added: "Today, we can say that the resistance is victorious in the symbolic and psychological arena, because it was able to revive the spirit of resistance in the Islamic nation and even in the global conscience, but in the field and political arena, it still has a difficult path ahead. Hamas' victory at this stage is more spiritual and cultural than military."
In response to the question that, given the unconditional support of America for Israel, are the two now on the path of isolation? He said: “Yes, it seems that the process of political and moral isolation of America and Israel has begun. America’s repeated vetoes in the Security Council and ignoring the basic principles of human rights have presented a contradictory face of the claimants of democracy.”
He continued: “Today, in universities, media, and popular gatherings in the West, we are witnessing a wave of criticism of Israel’s policies and America’s unconditional support. This transformation in public opinion is a sign of a changing era. America may still be a superior power militarily and economically, but from the perspective of morality and global legitimacy, it is in a defensive position. After the Al-Aqsa storm, the world is distinguishing more and more between “power” and “right,” and this is what can create a new political balance in the future in favor of the resistance and the oppressed nations of the region.”

America destroyed Afghanistan in 20 years; returning to Bagram is an absurd idea
Meanwhile, Sayed Mohammad Ali Ghazanfar, a researcher on West Asian issues, said in an interview with Ava: “The American military presence on October 7, 2001, and 20 years of military occupation and injustice destroyed most of the country’s infrastructure.”
According to him, “The fabricated September 11 attack was the main reason for America’s presence in Afghanistan, and they were able to obtain UN authorization under this pretext, but their main goals were to plunder Afghanistan’s infrastructure, mines, and resources, as well as to promote Western culture and symbolic democracy, which had no positive results over the course of two decades except for bloodshed and unhealthy competition.”
He added: “America’s defeat in Afghanistan was due to the firm determination of the brave Afghan people. America and its partners had come to the region as a global superpower, but the oppressed Afghan people, with their limited resources, were able to defeat them after two decades.”
According to Ghazanfar, “Today, this similarity exists between the people of Palestine and Afghanistan, because Hamas, with the same limited military capabilities, continues to resist the heavily armed Israeli regime with Western support until the complete defeat of the occupiers.”
He emphasized: “The main similarity between the people of Afghanistan and Palestine is the same firm determination and strong faith that today binds the Islamic states of the resistance axis, such as Lebanon, Yemen, Iraq, Iran, and Afghanistan. This process will certainly have pleasant consequences, and the Palestinian people will be victorious and the Zionist regime will be destroyed.”
He also said: “Trump’s claim to retake Bagram is an absurd fantasy that, unfortunately, is being fed to the people by some currents due to the weakness of media literacy in Afghanistan. The recent rumor about handing over Bagram to the United States was also bad propaganda, and the current leaders of Afghanistan emphasized that they will not give even a single inch of the country’s territory to foreigners.”
