Afghan Voice News Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Coinciding with the fourth day of the passing of Grand Ayatollah Sheikh Mohammad Ishaq Fayyaz (RA), religious and political experts discussed and examined the personal, scientific and lasting works of this great Shiite authority in the "Construction Discussion" program of the Center for Cultural and Social Activities of Tebyan Afghanistan in Kabul on Sunday.
Hojjat-ul-Islam Wal-Muslimeen Sayyed Mohsen Hosseini Balkhi, an expert on political and religious issues, referring to the position of scholars in Islamic thought, said in this meeting: After the divine prophets and the infallible Imams (AS), God Almighty has made scholars their heirs. From the perspective of the Holy Quran, scholars have a very important and fundamental position and the responsibility of promoting religious knowledge and guiding human society has been entrusted to them.
He added: In the Shiite community, scholars have very serious responsibilities, and each of the Shiite leaders and scholars throughout history has shone like a shining light against the darkness and has illuminated the path of guidance for the Islamic nation. Grand Ayatollah Fayyaz (RA) was also one of these brilliant and luminous figures who spent his blessed life in the service of Islam, humanity, and human society.
Referring to the various dimensions of the scientific and social personality of this late authority, Hosseini Balkhi noted: Ayatollah Fayyaz (RA) was an expert in various areas of jurisprudence, principles, society, and economics, and presented innovative views. In addition to his scientific and cultural activities, he was always a supporter of orphans, the needy, and the deprived segments of society, and provided services through charitable institutions.
He also stated: Ayatollah Fayyaz (may Allah have mercy on him) emphasized interaction and dialogue with the Islamic Emirate and considered the solution to many of Afghanistan's problems to be strengthening unity and empathy among the people of this country.
This religious and political expert criticized the lack of attention paid to the status of this great authority during his lifetime and stated: Unfortunately, we got to know Ayatollah Fayyaz more after his passing, and even many of our elders were not familiar with his personality and scientific dimensions as they should have been. After Akhund Khorasani, he was one of the most prominent figures in the Islamic world who emerged from Afghanistan, whose status transcended geographical, ethnic, and even religious boundaries.
In another part of his speech on the occasion of Mubahila Day, Hosseini Balkhi said: After the Holy Prophet (PBUH), all Islamic scholars and leaders have moved on the path of Mubahila. The great Mubahila incident is considered a turning point in the history of Islam. The Day of Mubahala confirms the status of the Ahlul Bayt (AS), Ghadir confirms the status of the Wilayat (AS), and the Verse of Purification confirms the infallibility of the Ahlul Bayt (AS). Therefore, we must preserve these greatnesses and invite society to the teachings of the Quran more than ever.
Continuing this session, Hojjatoleslam Wal Muslimeen Dr. Seyed Ali Hashemi, an expert in religious affairs, referred to the scientific status of Ayatollah Fayyaz (RA) and said: Great figures in history are usually not recognized as they deserve during their lifetime; especially those who possess ideas and theories.
Explaining the position of Ayatollah Fayyaz in the Shiite Usuli school, he added: After the occultation of the Imam of the Time (AS), two important intellectual currents, namely Akhbarism and Fundamentalism, were formed in the Shiite society. In the Akhbari school, the role of reason was diminished, but in the Usuli school, reason was considered as one of the important sources of inference, and Ayatollah Fayyaz was considered one of the prominent thinkers of this movement.
Hashemi clarified: Ayatollah Fayyaz used a rational approach to explain this theory in the discussion of the guardianship of the jurist, and he believed that one could arrive at the necessity of the guardianship of the jurist through rational reasoning without relying solely on narrations and hadiths. From his perspective, the guardianship of the jurist system is a rational, humane system based on the centrality of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS).
He emphasized: Limiting such a global personality to ethnic, regional, or geographical frameworks is the result of prejudice, shortsightedness, and ignorance. Ayatollah Fayyaz belongs to the entire Islamic world and human society, and his valuable scientific and intellectual works should be utilized in various fields.
In conclusion, this scientific figure called on scholars, elites, academics, media, and cultural activists to work to introduce as much of the works and ideas of this prominent authority in the Shiite world as possible and to pave the way for future generations to benefit from his scientific and intellectual legacy.
