U.S. President Donald Trump and German Chancellor Angela Merkel discussed several issues including the situation in Afghanistan and the conflict in eastern Ukraine, during a telephone conversation on Wednesday, the White House said.
Afghan Voice Agency(AVA), "The leaders pledged close cooperation and coordination on these and other issues," the White House said in a statement.
It was not the first that the two leaders have talked about Afghanistan, earlier three weeks ago Merkel and Trump met each other at the White House where Trump praised Merkel for her leadership in supporting NATO and its efforts in Afghanistan.
The German leader had said that her country is going to step up its work and is going to continue its work in Afghanistan.
