4 dead, 19 wounded as heavy explosion rocks Quetta city

At least four people were killed and around nineteen others were wounded after a heavy explosion rocked Quetta city, the provincial capital of Balochistan.


AVA- According to the local government and security officials, the incident took place this afternoon, targeting a vehicle of the Frontier Corps of the Pakistani security forces.
 
Balochistan Home Minister Sarfaraz Bugti confirmed that the vehicles convoy of the Frontier Corps was targeted in the explosion.
 
There are no reports regarding the type of the explosion which according to local media reports was so loud that rocked the entire Sariab road area.
 
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Police Quetta Abdul Razzaq Cheema has told Dawn News that the majority of the victims are civilians and a child is also among those killed.
 
According to Gen. Cheema, the explosion was likely triggered after a suicide bomber detonated his explosives.
 
No individual or group has so far claimed responsibility behind the incident.
 
This comes as a senior police official was killed in a similar attack in Peshawar city of Pakistan on Friday morning.
 
The latest attacks on security officials and personnel came as the Pakistani Taliban militants are attempting to carry out attacks in the key parts of the country.
