Zimmermann delivers NATO SG’s message to President Ghani for continued support
The NATO Senior Civilian Representative to Afghanistan Cornelius Zimmermann has delivered a written message of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani in which he has reaffirmed continued support to Afghanistan.

AVA- According to the Office of the President, ARG Palace, the message was delivered by Mr. Zimmermann during a meeting with President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani.

In his meeting with President Ghani, Mr. Zimmermann has said that the NATO alliance remains committed to stand with Afghanistan during the tough times, insisting that the alliance is committed for an all-out support to the Afghan nation.

He also added that the alliance hails the leadership of the unity government and support President Ghani’s stance regarding the peace process, including his stance for holding talks with those who are not committing atrocities in the country.

Mr. Zimmermann also added that NATO supports an Afghan-owned and Afghan-led peace process and the alliance is committed to support the Afghan national defense and security forces.

In his turn, President Ghani thanked the NATO Secretary General for his written message reaffirming the NATO support to Afghanistan and hailed the alliance on behalf of the Afghan nation for their support to Afghanistan.

President Ghani further added that peace is one of the main demands of the Afghan nation, emphasizing that the nation has not opted war but added that those who are will pursue war will have to be eliminated by the security forces.

He also added that the Afghan force are on the front line in the fight against the global terrorism and insisted that all nations should honestly contribute in this cause as support to terrorism is not in the favor of anyone.
