Shezad, Mujib power Afghanistan’s WCQ trophy win
Afghanistan beat West Indies (WI) by seven wickets in the final of World Cup Qualifiers (WCQ) championship at Harare on Sunday.
AVA- WI won the toss and decided to bat first in low-pressure final game as the two sides already qualified for the World Cup 2019.
Afghan bowlers performed very well and did not let the hard hitting Caribbean batsmen to play easy shots. The WI batsmen were soon under huge pressure and were able to post the total of 205 in 46.5 overs at the loss of all wickets.
Mujib bowled superb again and took 4 important wickets.
In reply Afghan openers took confident and quick start, Shezad was back in his quick form and hit marvelous strokes across the ground. He scored important 84 for his side.
Rahmat’s 78 balls 51 also contributed in Afghanistan easy chase but Nabi brought an exciting end to the game when he hit three consecutive sixes of Chris Gayle bowling.
