Poland to send 50 more troops to Afghanistan: president

AVA- Andrzej Duda made the announcement in Bagram, Afghanistan, while visiting soldiers from the Polish military contingent there.
Defence Minister Mariusz Błaszczak accompanied the Polish head of state to Afghanistan for his Easter meeting with soldiers.
While in Afghanistan, Duda and Błaszczak on Monday talked with the country’s Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah and US Army General John W. Nicholson, the commander of the Resolute Support mission.
“We have declared that we will increase our contingent by 50 soldiers by the end of the year,” Duda said after the talks.
Up to 250 soldiers from various military units in Poland are currently in Afghanistan in what is the sixth round of the Polish military contingent as part of the NATO-led Resolute Support training and advisory mission.
The first Polish soldiers arrived in Afghanistan in March 2002 as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.
