Afghanistan and Bangladesh are expected to play a three-match T20I series in India's Dehradun, it has been reported.
The matter was announced by Bangladesh Cricket Board following its third meeting of board of directors.
“We have ICC T20 World Cup ahead but we are not playing enough T20I matches. So we decided to play the series against Afghanistan in T2- format,” BCB President Nazmul Hasan said, cricbuzz.com reported. “We will play the series in Dehradun as other venues are preoccupied.”
He had earlier mentioned that Bangladesh would have preferred to play the series in Kolkata or Bangalore.
Earlier, reports suggested that Bangladesh and Afghanistan would play ODI series.
According to BCB, Afghanistan had initially planned to host Bangladesh in UAE, but later it considered the option of India.
BCB officials are exploring dates for the three-match T20I series before Afghanistan’s debut Test match against India on June 14.
