Six Killed In Baghlan Explosion At Voter Registration Center
In a second bombing in Afghanistan on Sunday, insurgents placed an IED close to a voter registration center in Pul-e-Khumri city in Baghlan, killing at least six people, officials confirmed.
The explosion happened shortly after 12 noon.
Baghlan officials also confirmed at least five people were wounded in the explosion.
According to them all victims were members of one family and women and children were among the dead and wounded.
Health officials said the family had been driving past the voter registration center when the explosives were detonated.
This is the fifth attack since Tuesday on the election process.
Earlier Sunday, a suicide bomber targeted a voter registration center in Dasht-e-Barchi in Kabul, killing 12 people and wounding 57 others.
On Friday, unknown armed men attacked a voter registration center in Qala-e-Naw, the center of Badghis province, where a police officer assigned to maintain security was killed.
On Thursday, unknown armed men attacked two police force members in Jalalabad City who were guarding a voter registration center.
The two policemen were killed in the ensuing gunfight.
On Tuesday, unknown armed men attacked a voter registration center in Ghor province and kidnapped three IEC employees and two policemen.
Ghor police spokesman said the attackers were Taliban.
