Afghanistan's Independent Election Commission has reversed its decision to allow people to use copy of their identity cards while registering to vote.

A week ago, IEC said that eligible voters could use a copy of their identity document instead of original one and get sticker attached on it.
The decision was taken apparently to address concerns among some that the stickers fixed into ID cards could be used by the Taliban in remote areas to target those intending to vote.
However, the decision drew criticism that it would help fraud. IEC members told 1TV on condition of anonymity that it would take a new decision.
Mujib Rahman Rahimi, spokesman of Unity Government’s Chief Executive, welcomed IEC’s latest move.
Voter registration in Afghanistan began over a month ago ahead of parliamentary and district councils elections. So far, nearly two million people have signed up to vote.
