Court of Appeals Judge Ahmad Ramin Andeshwar, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the individuals had been freed in line with presidential orders.
Brig. Gen. Shah Agha Shetab, in charge of the central prison, said the freed individuals hailed from f different provinces. They had been convicted of different crimes, he added.
Currently, 255prisoners are languishing in Smangan jail, including 13
women. Those freed expressed happiness over jail officials’ attitude.
Khalid Mohammad, 28, one of the released prisoners, thanked the government for the facilities he enjoyed inside jail.
